What we want to explore
Photo essays that take readers somewhere. Conversations with researchers and coastal practitioners. Field notes that explain the work and its limits. Ocean culture, design, and responsible products with a story beyond the product itself.
These are invitations for future contributions. We do not yet present a roster of commissioned contributors or an established field-reporting network.
Send a short pitch
Tell us the subject, location, your connection to it, and what a reader will learn. Include links to your portfolio or relevant work, what material already exists, and your proposed fee. Please send links first, rather than unpublished high-resolution files.

Agree on the terms first
Before a commission, we agree on scope, compensation, credit, permitted channels, license duration, and approvals. Contributors retain ownership unless an explicit written agreement says otherwise. We require permission for identifiable people and third-party material where applicable.
Keep the relationship clear
Sponsored stories and commercial collaborations will be labeled. Factual claims need sources or supporting records. Photographs used to illustrate a topic will be distinguished from documentation of a specific WOL initiative.
